DESCRIPTION

The trumpet is one of the most versatile instruments in the world.  It can be heard in numerous ensembles playing a variety of genres and evoking emotions ranging from deep reflection and melancholy to fiery passion and excitement.  The genre of the trumpet ensemble, however, has remained largely traditional following the evolution of classical music.  With Out of the Blue, the Texas A&M University-Kingsville Trumpets have set out to showcase a different path for the trumpet ensemble.  Instead of mirroring the symphonic trumpet section, the ensemble has recorded works, three of which the group commissioned in the style of the jazz trumpet section.  With this release, the group seeks to push the trumpet ensemble to be as versatile as the trumpet itself.
