This project aims to spark interest in the electronic genre by highlighting the trumpet’s stylistic versatility, melodic capabilities, and potential to blend in an electronically produced environment creating a captivating experience for modern audiences.
Monolith is a new composition from Dr. Matt Hightower, Assistant Professor of Tuba/Euphonium at the University of Kentucky. Dr. Millsap commissioned Monolith in 2020 when silver “monoliths” appeared worldwide. The composition evokes the images of monoliths falling from the sky, with unknown origins, asking the question, does life exist “out there.”
